£1.6m luxury lounge to open at Glasgow Airport
Glasgow Airport is set to open a £1.6m luxury airport lounge this summer.
Lomond Lounge will be an executive lounge based in Glasgow Airport’s departures area.
It is set to open to the public from August 2019.
But what can Glasgow Airport passengers expect from the new Lomond Lounge?
Outbound passengers will be able to visit Lomond Lounge before flying from Glasgow Airport.
More than £1.6 million has been invested in the lounge, which will open every day from 5am until 9pm.
Lomond Lounge, the fourth lounge to open at Glasgow Airport, will create 25 new jobs at the airport.
Other lounges available to Glasgow Airport passengers are the airport’s own UpperDeck lounge, as well as lounges owned and operated by airlines Emirates and British Airways respectively.
Managing director of Glasgow Airport, Mark Johnston, said: “We’re very excited about the introduction of the Lomond Lounge later this summer and the superior customer experience it will deliver for our passengers.
“While the UpperDeck continues to be extremely popular with our business and leisure passengers, demand for lounge access continues to rise as more and more people look to start their travels in style.
“The potential for the site of the new Lomond Lounge was huge given its prime location in the airport’s departures area and the fantastic views it offers of both the airfield and the stunning backdrop of the Campsie Fells.
“The Lomond Lounge will set the benchmark in providing a premium level of service and comfort when it opens its doors and I’m sure our customers will be very impressed with everything this luxurious new facility will offer.”
Inspiration for the design of the 4,500 sq ft lounge has come from the natural environment surrounding Glasgow Airport, including Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The design of Lomond Lounge has also been inspired by the architecture of the airport itself, which was designed by Basil Spence.
Passengers will be able to choose from table service and fine dining, or relaxed seating areas where they can grab a snack and drink ahead of their journey.
Lomond Lounge will have a capacity of 100 people, creating an intimate and exclusive atmosphere for guests.
There will be an extensive selection of food on offer, with fresh Scottish produce available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Local chefs will be producing a range of dishes for diners, including eggs benedict, American-style pancakes, Lomond beef, vegan burgers, stonebaked pizzas and fish with triple cooked chips and minted mushy peas.
Afternoon tea will also be available, with finger sandwiches, fresh scones and cream, cakes and pastries.
Drinks on offer in the Lomond Lounge will include craft beers, speciality cocktails and award-winning wines.
The lounge will feature charging points, fast WiFi, free newspapers and magazines as well as a separate business zone.
