Record summer sees 3 million passengers at Glasgow Airport
Glasgow Airport has had a record-breaking summer after serving more than three million passengers during June, July and August.
A record-breaking August saw more than 1,008,800 passengers travel through the terminal last month, which is a 7% increase when compared to August 2016.
When combined, the airport’s passenger figures for June, July and August amount to more than three million, making it the airport’s busiest ever summer.
Incredibly, it’s also the first time the airport has served more than a million customers for three consecutive months.
Added capacity and booming demand saw a 17% increase in EU scheduled services over the summer months, with holidaymakers choosing Glasgow Airport as their connection to cities like Milan, Paris, Berlin, Lisbon and Valencia.
Long haul continues to grow in popularity and capacity at Glasgow Airport, with Virgin’s Orlando service and Emirates’ twice-daily Dubai route proving extremely popular with passengers. In fact, Emirates passed its four million passenger mark in August for its Dubai service.
Airport Park and Ride offers customers a premium park and ride airport parking service, with a range of car parks located close to Glasgow Airport.
