London Luton Airport celebrates busiest ever July with 1.67m passengers
London Luton Airport had the busiest July in its history last month, as 1.67m passengers travelled through its doors.
The increase saw growth of 3.1% compared to the same period last year.
This means that July 2018 was the 18th consecutive month that London Luton Airport saw more than 1 million people travel through its doors.
London Luton Airport is currently undergoing a major transformation programme which will see a total of £160 million spent on upgrades to its facilities to enhance the passenger experience, with the aim of increasing annual capacity to 18 million by 2020.
Nick Barton, CEO of LLA, said: “July was a milestone month for LLA, as we celebrated 80 years of growth and reached the next stage of our £160m redevelopment. Our transformation will mean that passengers can enjoy smoother and quicker journeys, and allow more people to travel to new destinations. We look forward to welcoming even more passengers throughout the rest of the summer period as people get away for a well-earned break.”
