Glasgow Airport launches first daily service to Düsseldorf

Glasgow Airport passengers will be able to fly daily to the German city of Düsseldorf thanks to the launch of a new service from Logainair.

From 1 April, the airline will fly daily to Germany’s seventh largest city.

Departing from Glasgow at 10.20am every morning, the service will touch down in Düsseldorf just under two hours later at 13.10 local time. The service will depart from Düsseldorf at 13.50 and arrive back at Glasgow Airport at 14.40.

Düsseldorf is the second new route launched by Logainair at Glasgow Airport in the last few months, after unveiling a new service to the Norwegian cit of Stavanger last year.

With a population of 612,000, Düsseldorf is the largest continental city available to Glasgow Airport passengers travelling with Logainair and the airline’s first German destination offering.

Situated on the River Rhine in western Germany, Düsseldorf is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. As well as being an economic hub, the city is famous for its fashion industry, shopping and history – so it’s set to be a popular city break destination for Glasgow Airport holidaymakers.

Jonathan Hinkles, managing director of Loganair said: “Düsseldorf is Loganair’s first foray into Germany, heralding another significant milestone for the airline as our reach extends deeper into the continent. We’re now able to carry passengers further and faster since adding two Embraer 145 jets into the fleet, an important development for international travel.

“Fresh off the back of being awarded European Regional Airline of the Year, the coming months are set to be an exciting period for Loganair, continuing to provide excellent service to customers in our Scottish heartlands while setting our sights into Europe.

“We’re thrilled to be commencing ticket sales for Düsseldorf, a vibrant city which has a lot to offer holiday makers all year round. Business demand for the route is set to be strong, with the city ranking as Germany’s number one urban region for direct foreign investment.”

Paul White, Head of Aviation at Glasgow Airport, said: “Loganair’s decision to introduce its first route to Germany is a landmark moment for the airline and welcome news for Glasgow Airport.

“Düsseldorf continues to be a popular destination and this new service from Scotland’s airline will provide our passengers with an even greater choice.

“The introduction of the daily service to this fantastic city will also further strengthen our strong links with Germany, which currently includes routes to Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich.”
