London Luton Airport has reached a passenger milestone after serving more than 1 million customers last month.
A total of 1,008,184 passengers travelled through its doors during November 2017. This represents an increase of 5.6% compared to November 2016 and what’s more, it is the first time the airport has ever passed the million passenger milestone in a single month.
November also marked 44 months of consecutive growth at London Luton Airport.
Airport management says these latest statistics prove that the public’s appetite for air travel is continuing to grow at a rapid pace, month by month.
In fact, separate statistics released by the Department for Transport have estimated that passenger demand will double by 2050.
To respond to these figures, London Luton Airport is in the process of investing more than £150 million in its facilities in a bid to increase annual capacity to 18 million by 2020. The development plans will see the airport transformed to enhance the passenger experience and boost capacity.
